Iowa Food System Coalition Standards of Behavior
All participants who attend events and/or programs hosted or co-hosted by the Iowa Food System Coalition (IFSC) are required to conduct themselves in accordance with the following standards of behavior. These standards have been established to help maintain a supportive, engaging, safe, and meaningful experience for all.
Participant Expectations
Be courteous and considerate and always interact with others respectfully.
Practice good community stewardship and always treat others with kindness.
Always use appropriate language and be thoughtful in what you say.
Practice leadership and encourage fellow participants to conduct themselves appropriately and with integrity.
Be responsible for your own behavior; uphold high standards for self and accept consequences for inappropriate behavior.
Comply with the rules and standards of the host policies and directions.
Ensure an environment that is safe for all participants to show up as their authentic selves regardless of sex, race, color, creed, sexual orientation, age, gender identity and expression, religion, national origin, migratory status, disability/abilities, political affiliation, veteran status, or socioeconomic background.
Demonstrate mutual respect toward others, including when there are personal, professional, or political differences.
Behaviors That Are Not Permitted
Behaviors that are not permitted include, but are not limited to, the following:
Any actions that bully, tease, dominate, or display sexualized behavior toward another person.
Disrespecting others.
Use of inappropriate language, including profanity, slurs, insults, or other language that could be hurtful or harmful to another person.
Possession or use of harmful objects with the intent of harming or intimidating others (e.g., weapons, fireworks, etc.).
Using cameras, video, or any other type of recording device in private areas, such as bathrooms, changing/locker rooms, or shower facilities.
Being in spaces that are not permitted or are off-limits, unsupervised, or unauthorized.
Destruction or theft of property.
Other conduct determined to be inappropriate at the discretion of the event organizer.
Violations of the Standards of Behavior
Violations of the Standards of Behavior will be handled as follows:
If necessary, participants will be removed from the event or program.
A participant may be barred from participating in future IFSC events or programs.
When warranted (e.g., violation of law), the situation may be turned over to the appropriate external agency (e.g., law enforcement authority).
