The Iowa Food & Farm Baseline Report (2024–2025) is the first comprehensive snapshot of Iowa’s local food economy, compiled by the Iowa Food System Coalition’s Farm & Food Business Development Priority Team. Using publicly available directories, MarketMaker data, and partner lists, the team identified 1,461 local food businesses statewide—ranging from direct-to-consumer farms to regional processors and distributors.

The report sheds light on Iowa’s growing local food network and provides data-driven insights to guide collaboration, investment, and policy. It also establishes a foundation for tracking future progress as part of the Coalition’s broader effort to strengthen Iowa’s local and regional food systems.
